Digital video glasses now pose a potential competition in portable video output media, but even with the fact that the technology hasn’t out-functioned our well trusted HD screens, the basic idea of a portable viewing device sure is very appealing, and it is exciting to think of its possibilities in the near future. One of the pioneers of this constant improvement is the Vuzix digital video goggles, and today we shall look at the factors why people buy Vuzix iWear AV230 XL Video Glasses.

Standard screen resolution
The AV230 XL has the average 320×240 pixel resolution screen that is common for most of the video eyewear models out there. I mean, if this is the regular or standard, it sure warrants a good inspection from the consumers, and having a 320×240 doesn’t necessarily mean that the quality is bad in any way anyway. The display simulates a 44 inch screen that is about 2.7 meters away, leaving you and your movie in a “separate dimension” where you can view the movie all on your own.

Features an OLED (organic light emitting diode) display
This is probably the best selling point of the device. OLED displays have been known to out-function the common LCD displays (not just in LCD virtual glasses) in the sense that they already have built-in lights to illuminate the screen while at the same time keeping the user from excessive eradiation. You have to take note of the composition though, because of the relative low pixel quality, objects of finer detail are often presented in blurry images, so you probably can’t view your work papers or documents while on a trip with these glasses (and reading while on a moving vehicle is bad for your eyes anyway).

Uses a detachable AA battery
Very convenient in a way that you can easily switch batteries when needed, unlike some models with built-in batteries where you’ll have to always hook it up to a charging station for continuous use. The AV230 XL has low power consumption so you’ll probably last for around 6-8 hours on a single AA battery.

Provides a rubber eye shield
This is for those people who want to totally sink themselves in that separate dimension that the AV230 XL provides. Just install properly onto the unit, and strap on face, just be careful not to get too immersed, or you might be the last to leave the plane.

Well, I can say that the overall features aren’t really that bad, especially if you consider the fact that it costs much less than the other high performance models out in the market. I would most definitly advise you buy Vuzix iWear AV230 XL Video Glasses and add them to your portable entertainment arsenal.
