Quick look at the Vuzix Wrap 920 video glasses

June 16th, 2010

Vuzix has long been pushing the boundaries of the video glass market and they have done a wonderful job with their latest product the Wrap 920.

These glasses provide a truly high definition experience. The viewing effect is that of watching a 67″ inch screen from 10 feet away. If you are looking for high quality video glasses that give a great viewing experience these video glasses are a great option.

The glasses also feature stunning color. They are 24-bit true color, which has the ability to show 16 million colors for a very high quality image.

For comfort they are also light weight at less than 3 ounces.

Lastly for those who want to connect the glasses to their high definition media devices via hdmi, optional adapters are also available.

How to find the best looking video glasses.

March 22nd, 2010

When lcd video glasses first became available we were confined between choosing from something that looked like it belonged in an episode of Star Trek. Fortunately there are much better looking video glasses available on the market today.

If you are concerned with pure appearance my opinion is that Myvu is the clear leader. The myvu shades model and crystal models both provide a very sleek fashionable look.

The Sunglass apeal:
The myview shades model has a look that is comparable to a pair of large sunglasses. The only potential drawback is that in order to use the glasses you must look down, which can be annoying if you are not accustomed to doing this.

The futuristic look:
If you are looking for something really sleek you should consider the myvu crystal. It has a compact design that contours toward the nose that give it the appearance of a pair of futuristic glasses. The only drawback is that the battery life can be a bit limited at only 4 hours versus other video glasses that can offer in excess of 10 hours of viewing time.

Coming soon:
Probably the sleekest pair of video glasses that I have seen are the vuzix Wrap 920AV. These glasses look like a very nice pair of sun glasses and weigh only 3 ounces. If you are considering a pair of high end video glasses it may well be worth the until they are released in the Fall of 2009.

How to get the Cheapest Video glasses

March 7th, 2010

Now that video glasses have been on the market for a a few years there are some serious discounts available to those who are willing to bargain hunt.

Cheapest Video glass brands:
The myvu video glasses tend to be the most economical with the shade and personal viewer models now selling for under $100. For $100 you will not get all the bells and whistles of a higher end player such as the lighter weight and better resolution, but they are a great bargain and nearly half the price of other high end models.

Where to buy:
There are always several options. Some choose ebay, but I personally dislike having to wait to purchase a product. If you browse through the sellers to find a low cost alternative on amazon.com that will most likely be comparable to the prices that you see on ebay.

What about refurbished?
Now I know what you are going to say. Why would you risk buying refurbished electronics. The truth is that not all refurbished items were once broken. A product can be labeled refurbished for several reasons including open box items and customer returns. Once refurbished the products are returned to the manufacturers original standards for sale. To further reassure that your video glasses will not be defective several manufacturers also offer a warranty. The best places to look for refurbished video glasses are amazon.com and on the manufacturers website themselves. I know that vuzix sells refurbished video glasses on their website however supplies may not last.

Things To Consider When Choosing The Best Video Glasses

February 20th, 2010

The next wave of personal gaming and movie watching is here! Video glasses have taken the gaming community, portable DVD addicts, and IPod users to a futuristic convenience that was never expected. It seems like something from the future; however the best video glasses are no longer a stretch as they are real and have taken hold from society’s youth to the elder generation. Because they are relatively new to the scene many wonder which video glasses are the best for particular games or IPods, with good reason! Many of them can be quite costly; however there is several that are well within the reach of the average pocketbook. Read on for tips on choosing the best video glasses!

The Best Video Glasses Are Comfortable Ones
There is certainly no doubt about the fact that video glasses must be comfortable. After all they are used to view a virtual world, which is made larger than life! Not only are all images brought to the viewer at cinema screen size, but they must also fit comfortably or they can leave a person with a headache quickly. The best video glasses are those that are fit like normal glasses meaning that they should be snug, but not too tight. The weight of the glasses should be a consideration as with extended use this weight could make a difference on the nose, face and head in general. The different styles and brands of video glasses all sport different weights, however many only weigh ounces, meaning that they are very light. Many of the best video glasses on the market weigh less than 5 ounces making them comfortable to wear for hours of gaming or movie watching!

Affordability V.S. Expensive
Video glasses are not cheap meaning that many must consider their price tag. Now the best video glasses can range from the couple hundred dollar range all the way up to $700 or $800 hundred dollars. Of course the more expensive glasses feature more options, virtual screen viewing sizes as well as many other factors. When making the choice and deciding which pair is the best for the money take into consideration factors such as the life of the rechargeable battery (should be in the range of 8 hours), size of the virtual viewing screen, brands and gaming equipment that they are compatible with. Granted a cheaper pair of video glasses may seem like the best choice, however if they will not deliver the results that are desired than they are not the best video glasses!

Other factors that should be considered are built in head phones as well as appropriate adapters such as IPod and RCA. Many of the brand video glasses come with the items needed for movie watching or gaming, but be sure to check whether the needed specifics are required. Otherwise choosing the best video glasses are a matter of personal choice, one’s pocket book and their goals for the glasses. Life simply cannot get any better than being able to watch a movie on a 50 inch virtual screen in complete privacy!
